Overview[edit]

The program for the conference will be modelled after the theme "Building sustainable wikimedia communities for the benefit of Africa".

The main goal of the 2nd WikiIndaba Conference is to focus its intent on activating communities and formulating a continent strategy that includes:

  • Building capacity for African Wikimedians
  • Fostering growth within the African Continent
  • Connecting Africans both within the continent and in the diaspora

Tracks[edit]

This year the conference program will be built along the following tracks;

  1. Critical issues and projects,
  2. Training
  3. Discussions.

Presentation Length[edit]

To accommodate as many presentations as possible, we strongly suggest that you limit your proposed session's length to a maximum of 20 minutes, and include time for questions. You can request additional time, which may be granted if your proposal is particularly extensive. The programme committee may offer a shorter slot than you propose if time in the schedule is tight.

Submission Terms[edit]

By submitting a proposal, you must agree that:

  • Your proposal's abstract and any slides associated with it will be released under the Creative Commons Attribution Share-a-like Licence 3.0; and
  • if accepted, the session will be broadcasted and/or recorded and made available in audio and/or visual form under said licence.

If you object to these requirements (for instance, if you would prefer not to be filmed), please detail your objection in the objection field in the form.

Your proposal will be discussed and rated in public by the programme committee, and you will be notified through the contact information you supply of the committee's decision.

If your submission is not added to the preliminary schedule, please do not be discouraged: Wiki Indaba 2017 will have time set aside in the schedule for participants and attendees to participate in unofficial, self-organised talks and working groups. You will have many opportunities to bring topics forward on-site whilst socialising, networking and sharing ideas.
